چکیده

This paper presents a novel camera network design methodology based on the Parisian evolutionary computation approach. This methodology proposes to partition the original problem into a set of homogeneous elements, whose individual contribution to the problem solution can be evaluated separately. A population comprised of these homogeneous elements is evolved with the goal of creating a single solution by a process of aggregation. The goal of the Parisian evolutionary process is to locally build better individuals that jointly form better global solutions. The implementation of the proposed approach requires addressing aspects such as problem decomposition and representation, local and global fitness integration, as well as diversity preservation mechanisms. The benefit of applying the Parisian approach to our camera placement problem is a substantial reduction in computational effort expended in the evolutionary optimization process. Moreover, experimental results coincide with previous state of the art photogrammetric network design methodologies, while incurring in only a fraction of the computational cost. 2005 Elsevier B.V. Nowadays, the subject of vision metrology network design is local enhancement of the existing network. In the other words, it has changed from first to third order design concept. To improve the network, locally, some new camera stations should be added to the network in drawback areas. The accuracy of weak points is enhanced by the new images, if the related vision constraints are satisfied si...

Accessibility Analysis in Camera Placement Network Design for Vision Metrology

SUMMARY Automatic optimum network design for measuring complex industrial objects by vision metrology systems is a real challenge. In the absence of 3D simulated CAD models of the complex objects along with the absence of workspace information, several uncertain parameters are introduced into the camera placement decision-making process. These uncertain factors include the vision constraints su...

Deformation Monitoring of a Slope by Vision Metrology

This paper discusses monitoring of slope deformations by vision metrology with a CCD camera. Reflective targets are placed over a slope, and their object coordinates is measured by a photogrammetric technique. Precision and sensitivity of slope deformation measurement using vision metrology are investigated. Deformation of targets placed on a slope was detected by measurement at two time epochs...

A versatile camera calibration technique for high-accuracy 3D machine vision metrology using off-the-shelf TV cameras and lenses

A new technique for three-dimensional (3D) camera calibration for machine vision metrology using off-the-shelf TV cameras and lenses is described. The two-stage technique is aimed at efficient computation of camera external position and orientation relative to object reference coordinate system as well as the effective focal length, radial lens distortion, and image scanning parameters. The two...

Optimal Camera Placement for Automated Surveillance Tasks

Camera placement has an enormous impact on the performance of vision systems, but the best placement to maximize performance depends on the purpose of the system. As a result, this paper focuses largely on the problem of task-specific camera placement. We propose a new camera placement method that optimizes views to provide the highest resolution images of objects and motions in the scene that ...
